Frequently Asked Questions
An EMA Crossover happens when a faster EMA (e.g. EMA 9) crosses above a slower EMA (e.g. EMA 21), signalling that short-term momentum is shifting bullish. On NSE daily charts, this is one of the most widely used trend-entry signals because it adapts quickly to price changes unlike a simple moving average.
The 9/21 EMA pair works well for swing trades (5–15 days). The 20/50 EMA pair is better for positional trades (1–3 months). For intraday, 5/13 or 9/21 on 15-minute charts are popular. Avoid very short EMAs like 3/8 — they generate too many false signals on NSE due to gap openings.
Place your stop loss 1–2 ATR below the crossover candle low. Risk only 1% of capital per trade. Set a minimum 1:2 risk-reward — if your stop is ₹20 below entry, your target should be ₹40 above. Exit if price closes below the fast EMA for two consecutive sessions.
