What is a Morning Star pattern?

The Morning Star is a three-session candlestick pattern considered one of the strongest bottom-reversal signals. It shows a clear transition of power from sellers to buyers over three trading days.

On NSE stocks, Morning Stars appearing near 52-week lows, Fibonacci support, or long-term EMA (200-day) have historically produced the strongest bounces. This screener updates every evening with fresh detections.

Does the middle candle need to be a Doji?
No — it just needs to be a small-bodied candle showing indecision. A Doji in the middle is called a Morning Doji Star and is considered a stronger version of the pattern.
How far should Day 3 recover into Day 1?
Ideally Day 3 closes above the midpoint of Day 1's body. The deeper into Day 1 it recovers, the stronger the reversal signal.
How does MomentumIQ detect Morning Star?
We look for three consecutive candles matching the directional criteria, with Day 3 closing above Day 1's midpoint. The pattern is only flagged in a prior downtrend.
What stop-loss suits a Morning Star trade?
Place the stop-loss below the low of the middle candle (Day 2). This is the lowest point of the pattern and breaking it invalidates the reversal.
