What is a Above 200 EMA pattern?

The 200-day EMA is the most closely watched moving average among NSE and BSE traders. A stock trading above its 200 EMA is considered structurally bullish over the medium-to-long term, independent of any single day's candle shape.

MomentumIQ recalculates the 200-day EMA for all 2,827 NSE stocks every evening after market close, so this list always reflects the latest closing data — useful as a first-pass long-term trend filter before applying any shorter-term entry pattern.

Why 200 EMA and not 200 SMA?
EMA weights recent price action more heavily than a simple moving average, so it reacts faster to genuine trend changes while still smoothing out daily noise. Both are used across NSE, but EMA is more common among active traders.
Does being above the 200 EMA guarantee a stock will keep rising?
No — it is a trend context filter, not a standalone entry signal. Historically this correlates with a higher base rate of continuation, but individual stocks can still reverse sharply.
How is this different from a Golden Cross?
This screen shows every stock currently above its 200 EMA, regardless of when it crossed. A Golden Cross specifically flags the moment the 50 EMA crosses above the 200 EMA — a fresh trend-change event, not an ongoing state.
How often does MomentumIQ update this list?
Every evening after NSE market close, using that day's final closing price against the freshly recalculated 200-day EMA.
