About the Spring Wyckoff Strategy
Spring Wyckoff is a price action strategy rooted in Wyckoff methodology that identifies accumulation phases where institutional players quietly build positions before sharp rallies. The strategy captures the moment when price springs back up from support, signaling genuine strength and the beginning of a trending move.

The approach applies well to NSE equities because Indian markets exhibit distinct institutional accumulation and distribution patterns within liquid large-cap and mid-cap stocks. During morning and mid-session hours, volume clusters and price rejections at support levels often precede sustained directional moves, making daily timeframes ideal for identifying these setups. NSE's liquidity allows traders to enter and exit without slippage during high-volume spring reversals.

The setup looks for a spring pattern within a Wyckoff accumulation structure. Traders watch for price to test support, trigger stops below that level briefly, then recover sharply on increasing volume. This false breakdown followed by reversal suggests institutional absorption of sell orders and buying strength. Entry typically occurs as price reclaims broken support levels with conviction, confirming the spring mechanism has activated. Position management relies on defining the accumulation range as the operational reference zone.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
⚠️ Price action setups are subjective by nature — the most common mistake is inconsistent rule application from trade to trade. Backtested results assume the rules are followed mechanically, not interpreted loosely.

Frequently Asked Questions
A Wyckoff Spring is a false breakdown below the support of an accumulation range — price briefly pierces support, triggering stop-losses and attracting short sellers, before quickly reversing back above support. This deceptive move represents the Composite Man's final test before initiating the markup phase, offering an excellent low-risk entry for informed traders.
A genuine Spring: penetrates support only briefly (usually just 1 session), shows rapid recovery back above support with a strong close, is accompanied by above-average volume during the spring bar itself but declining volume during subsequent tests, and occurs after a prolonged accumulation range has been established over many weeks.
Type 1 Spring: barely touches support and immediately reverses — enter aggressively on recovery. Type 2 Spring: tests and retests support multiple times before recovering — wait for the recovery close above support before entering. Type 3 Spring: most significant penetration of support before strong recovery — often provides the best entry on the strong recovery candle.
The Sign of Strength is the first significant upward price thrust following a successful Spring, often accompanied by expanding volume and breaking above the most recent resistance within the accumulation range. This SOS confirms the Spring worked — institutions have absorbed the selling and are now driving price higher. If no SOS develops within 5-10 sessions, reassess the Spring validity.
