About the Single Print Strategy Strategy
The Single Print Strategy capitalizes on price levels that form isolated trading activity within a defined range, creating potential reversal or continuation opportunities. This approach focuses on identifying price points where a single transaction or small cluster of trades occurred without immediate revisit, suggesting these levels may act as magnets for future price movement.
On the NSE, this strategy benefits from the market's robust intraday liquidity and distinct volatility patterns across market hours. The strategy works particularly well during periods of range consolidation followed by directional moves, which are common characteristics of Indian equity sessions. Single prints often emerge during quiet market phases and become relevant when volume surges through these isolated levels.
The setup looks for price bars or candles that trade at levels not visited during the recent range, creating a vacuum on the volume profile. Traders watch for the market to either hold these single prints as support or resistance, or for price to return and fill these areas with increased volume. Entry signals typically occur when price approaches these isolated levels with sustained volume, signaling potential rejection or acceptance of that price level. The strategy relies on price action and volume confirmation rather than lagging indicators.
Who This Strategy Is For
This Beginner strategy suits Beginner Traders comfortable with a Daily timeframe and holding periods around several days. It's built for the Equity segment on NSE, so it fits traders who can check positions without needing intraday execution speed. Because it uses a small, well-known set of indicators, it's a reasonable starting point if you're new to systematic NSE trading.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
⚠️ Momentum strategies can give back gains quickly once momentum fades. A common error is not tightening stops as profits build, which lets a winning trade round-trip back to breakeven or a loss.

Frequently Asked Questions
Single Prints are price levels where only a single Time Price Opportunity (TPO) letter appears in a Market Profile chart — indicating price passed through that level rapidly without sufficient two-sided trading activity to generate multiple TPOs. These thin areas represent poor value and future price is likely to move through them quickly when revisited.
Single Prints form natural price magnets — when price returns to a single print area, it tends to either pass through quickly (if filling the imbalance) or reject sharply (if the single print represents excess that must be corrected). Anticipating this behavior allows positioning with defined risk at the single print boundaries.
Upside single prints (formed during rallies) represent areas where price moved up quickly, potentially to be filled (price returns to that level on a pullback) or rejected (the rally was excessive and price reverses before filling). Downside single prints (formed during declines) show rapid downward movement with similar fill or rejection dynamics when price revisits them from below.
Sierra Chart with NSE data provides professional Market Profile visualization including automatic Single Print identification. TradingView's TPO Chart (under beta features) offers basic Market Profile analysis. Most Indian retail broker platforms do not offer Market Profile natively, making this a more specialized analytical approach for dedicated NSE market structure traders.
